This is a requested re-upload video of my most popular mod with the background music removed...

The original version with background audio has been posted as a response below..

Part 1 of 2 on how modding a MegaDrive Model 1 is done to give S-Video, Composite and Stereo Line Out. This video covers soldering in the wires needed for our connections as well as some tips along the way.

  • Hey Damo. I'm planning on doing the composite and stereo mod, and I'd like to ask something. I take it pin number 1 and 8 on the Sony soundchip stand for the left and right soundchannels. But how do you know which of the two pins is the left channel and which one the right? Or did you just solder them randomly? Great videos by the way!

  • @bsolmaz13 - Hey mate - Pin 1 should be Left :) And best of luck with the mod - feel free to ask any questions you may have on the way, and also your welcome to post a video response of your modded unit too :) Cheers!

  • Hi, I attempted to add S-Video to my Sega Genesis using this video. I get a signal out of the S-Video, but the picture has vertical lines in it. Is there someway I can fix this? I checked to see if I have any wires crossed and that's not the case. The only reason I can think of that might cause this is that I'm using the same spot for both of the grounds on the S-Video. I haven't done the composite or stereo parts yet...

  • @Capsuledragon - Hey there.. Can you tell me more about these lines.. Are they just dark lines in the picture, or are they acutally black lines with missing picture info.. The reason I ask as some MegaDrives don't acutally have the best picture on them, and using a higher grade output like S-Video makes so you can acutally see the flaws in the picture..

  • Thanks for uploading this again. The music was nice but made it difficult to hear what you were saying.

  • @eventualdave - No problem at all, if anyone ever wants any of my vids changed, I encourage them just to ask :) Cheers mate!

  • @Capsuledragon I had the same problem. I used two 75 ohm resistors in line on chroma instead of just one 75 ohm resistor and the vertical lines are gone. The picture looks better too!

  • Good Video--I know the music jazzes up the video but for instructional , its so much easier to concentrate without it.

  • clever idea other then using the headphone jack concept, very clever ;X
