That's not paint, it's thermoplastic. Nasty stuff. Crazy hot. Very hard work. I used to bead by hand all the time on small stuff like that, and I worked for a multi million dollar company. It's easier that way. You don't have to push that heavy ass cart the extra foot or so to get beads at the end of the line. Plus, around a tight curve the beads wouldn't cover the line, they'd be off to the side.
hand beading is the way to go for symbols imo
for anything else we ussually use machines
anyone ever use graco painters,, lol ive never liked their beading system!
you get the odd beads that get stuck in the flap and it doesnt close completely
you let it sit for 5mins and you got a little pile on the ground lol
sprayign thermo isnt as good, durability.. as for time and effort though.. awesome! :P

I'm also a road painter and I bead by hand. Except for the straight lines. The beads are sprayd automatically for those.

We use stencils and a spray wand in my city. Much easier.
