I had forgotten this track classic! I think if my memory is accurate it does have a similar sound/ tempo to a 1978 song by > Arpeggio " love and desire".

I didn´t know the Arpeggio song, but I just hear it on youtube and you are right it has a similar rhythm, specially the start of the song (to some extent)

Hey, im 50 years old and this track sounds as impressive now, as it did in my crazed up youth. How cool is it to reflect eh ! .

Most extended versions don't do justice to the original but this one compliments and even enhances the original.

    Thanks a million for posting!

An absolute belter; they used to play it early on in The Kirk - an awesome club in Kirklevington near Yarm circa 1987-1989. I've also got this on 12"- tune !

It's not just Americans in general--the American music press was calling most anything from Britain that wasn't the Rolling Stones or heaby-metal or overproduced like ELO/YES New Wave, with the New Romantics and skinny-tied synthpop just a subset of New Wave. This was true until about 1985-1986, when they started calling things College Music, or later, even more vaguely, Alternative.
