AIA President Marvin Malecha, FAIA, has a special message about the AIA convention in San Francisco April 30May 2. Architects will be coming together to network; learn about leveraging those connections to get meaningful, economy- and community-building work; meet with federal procurement officers in GSA, the U.S. departments of Transportation and Education, and the Homeland Security and other agencies; and, as a unified profession, map a course to a future of recovery and prosperity.
Marvin,
As a BArch graduate at CalPoly Pomona 25 years ago, I will always remember your confidence and guidance as Dean of the School of Architecture and the influence you directly had in my completion of coursework. Now at the pinnacle of my career, victim in the recessionary economy like so many others, I applaud your vision and continued efforts to further the profession. In 2006, my firm was awarded top 5 entrepreneurs in Atlanta. In 2008 we dissolved. Glad to have been on that ride.
