No, I'm not sure...I forget the details. I only know this because I searched high and low for the American Marathon bar (Curly Wurly in England) and got all excited when I found it. But wait! That's what I know as a Snickers bar! Crushing disappointment:) Anyway, I think Mars owned the name at the time. But I'm frequently wrong, so proceed at your own risk:)

I sure miss the original caramel Marathon Bar from the 70's. It had an almost braided appearance, hard to explain - but they sure were good! Its always sad to see companies use a familiar name of a well loved product that the new product is nothing like.

Thanks for that - I guess they decided to combine the name 'Maraton' with the Low Carb ides to give it a more healthy look. Thanks for sharing and for commenting on my own Snockers/Marathon video.
Actually, it's my understanding that Snickers was marketed in the UK as 'Marathon' due to their already beeing another candy in England bearing the 'Snickers' name. No mystery here, folks--just marketing:) And yes, you can still find the 70s American Marathon bar, now called Curly Wurly.

Oh now that's interesting... do you know who owned the name in the UK at that time? I don't recall ever having encountered a different sweet called 'Snickers'.
