Yeah, Xfce is great for any computer. Gnome's not bad, but KDE just slows your computer down, and I actually like the way Gnome and Xfce are set up better than KDE.

i like fluxbox for minimalism / fast boot etc
-
seems a bit, erm, how do i put this.
indecisive to use compiz on xfce. i use xfce to stay lightweight and fast so my games/programs stay faster. not so i can use it on eyecandy. which is what i was staying away from by choosing xfce.

i HATE kde, and for some reason i prefer xfce...i dunno why, maybe i like the xubuntu mouse, he's so cute

Yup XFCE is lots faster than KDE or GNOME

Xubuntu is a very simple and easy system to use. There are a few features on Ubuntu that I like more thoough. I just got Xubuntu 7.10 and I have never used it before so I am still getting use to it. But so far I like it.

@lepppzero: You can do it. Install Xfce with 'apt-get install xubuntu-desktop' and later uninstall GNOME with 'apt-get remove ubuntu-desktop'.
But, if you only use Xfce, install Xubuntu directly.
