SPANIELS You Gave Me Peace of Mind DEC '56

My favorite Spaniels song. I've never seen where it charted. Good example of why I say just because it wasn't a hit doesn't mean it's not good. *** I was a record collector in the 50s and 60s, mostly R&B, doowop, and Motown. My first two purchased records were 78s in '56...Peggy Sue and Blue Suede Shoes (still got em).
I listened mostly to KDIA in San Francisco/Oakland back in the day. If I liked a new song, I bought it. Hence you may discover some great songs as we go on this journey.

@doowopdavid Yes, it really is unbelievable. I get the feeling it was the B side because I run into the flip side on doowop CD's, it's an uptempo called something like HIGH UP THE MOUTAIN.

My first record buy was "Hound Dog" in '56 when I was 10 years old in the Bronx. As with you, when I heard something I liked it wasn't long before I had it. And I bought a lot. But I never got this one. I don't remember ever hearing it. I damn sure would've gotten it though. Thanks for placing it here. It's got that CLASSIC sound that almost puts me in a trance. WOW!

@srercrcr Yo - Sorry to be so long in responding. I know on the El Dorados album with There In The Niight, At My Front Door, and I'll Be Forever Loving You, there was a song by guest artist The Magnificants called "Up On The Mountain" that's the only one I can think of close to that title. Possibly the flip of You Gave Me Peace of Mind was another great Spaniel song "Great Googly Moo" ?? Stay cool man -- David
