Young and talented Ashton Hutchins addresses the audience with some heartfelt remarks about liberty and freedom in the USA, and then sings the song "God Bless the USA."

This took place at a "Tea Party" in Kansas City in Theis Park, not far from the historic Country Club Plaza and the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art.

  • I have been listening to the debate about healthcare in the USA, and as a UK-resident I must say I can't quite understand how better off people can disregard the 40 million who have no healtcare! I do realize this is a tricky situation, but after all we have to help those in need. For us - living here in the UK - we all get help when needed, Yes, we may have to wait a little longer but the care is there for all, and I am pleased we do. It is security for all.

  • It always amazes me when some folks mistake the idea of charity for others as a need for a government mandate to force people to relinquish part of their wealth. Government coercion in the name of charity is a travesty.

  • Healthiness is one of the basic needs of human beings (amongst needs like food and a roof over your head) and based on the concept, that all basic needs must be satisfied for the human dignity, it is incompatible with the Declaration of Human Rights to deny people access to a working health care system.

As so many people in America say in these days: It's not a political issue, it's a moral issue - especially in a country where human rights should have top priority!

    [Sorry for my English]

  • I agree that "Health" is an important issue with most people, but many people live lifestyles that are counter to that ideal.

It is not moral to rob some people to pay for the "needs" of others.

It is moral to engage in moral activities that result in a production of wealth for one's own benefit. That wealth can be spent on whatever ideals one wishes to fulfill. Just because my neighbor has irrational ideals does not obligate me to subsidize his stupidity or his misfortune.

  • I might decide to help him out of my own free will and choice, or I might not. It is not the proper role of government to act like a Robin Hood to steel money from its citizens in order to merely hand money over to the politically connected claimants with the biggest sob story about their perceived "need."

  • Is this lady with a record contract? And did she do the main role in Footloose?

  • Nice eyeliner and sequins. The dude swiggin' on a tallboy in the background is an extra special touch.
