The paw lift was happening as we were working on "shame" where paw came up over muzzle. I think I reduced criteria after first final bow also. So shocked she got it so quick I think! But that was my thinking. Find if I free shape and build it up a few times before only r+ing final behaviour it creates a stronger behaviour longterm. Great questions.

I had given up on free shaping and just use capturing or luring until I watched this. I taught my dog to bow in just a few minutes more after watching it. The hardest part was waiting for her to stop staring at me waiting for direction!

i think you should of used a jackpot when she got the behavior completed then she would of undestood that the bow was what you were looking for you could of given about 4 jackpot in the video . i know that ussually helps my dog get thinks faster

hey there! Don't do much jackpotting myself. the research that I know other people have done and from my personal records show no greater speed of learning when they are used. but whatever works. great that you can pick up on different things that you would do differently to other trainers - great way to learn I think. thanks for taking time to watch and to comment. :)

That's funny, before I even read the comments I thought to myself "I wonder if she has been training 'shame' a lot lately" :)

This looks great, I am in love with freeshaping. The bow I didn't free shape, I captured it. But pretty much everything else I free shape. It is just so much fun, the connection I feel with my dog while free shaping is unreal, we are truly communicating with each other! It's like "what will you do if I do...this? or THIS...?" :)
