hennessy hammock quick setup and tensioning technique, this method makes it amazingly easy to get perfect tension and adjust it as and when you want without having to untie all the knots. its very simple, two rappel rings and a karibiner. set up time can be reduced to almost nothing and makes it very easy to set up at night as well. (apologies for the sound quality, was very windy, will do a remake if its a big problem)

PLEASE MAKE SURE THIS SYSTEM IS APPROPRIATE FOR THE DIAMETER AND STRENGTH OF ROPE YOU ARE USING! DO NOT USE WITH HH ULTRALIGHT AS THE CHORD IS NOT THICK ENOUGH!

  • 7 strand paracord is too thin?

  • @Shapmb paracord has a very poor heat/abrasion rating and therefore really isnt suitable for this method, it is also very thin with a soft outer and the risk of damaging/pinching the inner is quite high also. i havent tried it but i wouldnt be confident in recommending it. try a siberian hitch and a wrap around quick release knot at the other instead.

  • @Shapmb

I just ordered an Ultralight Backpacker and plan on removing the existing cords and replacing with something more suitable for this method of hanging. I like this method better than the whoopie's. Does anyone have any recommendation on what cord will work best - Paracord or other and what thickness?

  • @mkreitz2 paracord is way too thin, ive sent you a private message regarding the subject.

  • Very nice technique. For those of us ultralighters, I wonder if one could get awaywith a clove hitch on one side (no 'biners or rings) and your setup on the other... When I was using my hennesey (exact same setup as yours) in borneo, I used one biner and cloves hitces all around, it worked well, but the second hitch was not as easy to tension. Cheers for the video!

  • @lepycelrau he did use heavy rings but SMC descending rings are 11g a piece.

  • I find that if the rope is on the thinner side, use the same technique displayed here, but do it twice. It holds fast and still has the same effect.

  • AmAZinG! my friend told me about whoopie slings, but this seems even faster.

  • What if the tree is larger than that and the straps don't get that close together?

  • awesome technique!

  • great review, what size carabiner do you recommend for thos over 100kg?

  • Can this be done with the standard Explorer Deluxe do you think? Or would I need to get stronger rope?

  • How likely is this method to damage the rope on the hammock?

  • I just bought a Hennessy Ultralite, and the cord is way too thin for this. It just doesn't hold in the rings.... Could I get one of those private messages too?
