  • no i believe it was mimicking the poisonous sea snake incredibly similar in colour and movement

  • dear mossie89 you are right ... on my opinion the mimic octopus is mimicing the banded seasnake..

  • as in its mimicing the weeds on the bottom? I was sure they didnt posses cloaking technics as seen in another outstanding video

  • Dear febufilmz ... my opinion is, that this mimic octopus is mimicing a seasnake.. bevore this the mimic octopus was hunting for tiny crabs in the sand.. when we aproached him he was starting to mimic the snake..

  • I do not understand this animal

  • Simple. It is an octopus that has used its chromatophores to take the colouring of a sea snake. Most of its tentacles are out of view - curled under it or in a burrow. The remaining two are then being moved to mimic a sea snake. In the middle there is its head. It uses this to evade, and potentially scare of predators.

  • i think it was mimicking my penis

  • maybe fish are easier to fool than humans, huh little guy?

  • Ignore the main body. Look at the two arms and picture they are one, big sea snake, writing around.

  • are mimic octopi dangerous at all? or is mimicking really all they got

  • Its imitating the sea snake...

one of the most deadly snakes in the world.

  • Wonderpus has white spots on top of it's mantle in a somewhat circular pattern, and it's mantle and head are often reddish brown. Took me a while too to see the difference

  • i watch many videos here that have this octopus saying is the mimic, what's the difference? i can really tell just by watching :S

  • it looks like it has a big moustache

  • It's not a mimic octopus, but a wonderpus (wunderpus photogenicus), a different species
