Bas Verwijlen from the Netherlands made it to the final. Have a look if how he was doing in the final versus Paolo Pizzo in the goldmedal match. The Italian had his home crowd behind him as he is from Catania.

  • just got my E in epee today at my first tournament

  • @riflepoet No. His name is Oleg Puzanov.

  • italians are the best fencing nation at the moment, they got Matteo Tagliariol-Olimpic champion Beijing, now Paolo Pizzo-World champion,Aldo Montano-world champion,Andrea Cassara-world champion....and Paolo Pizzo is World N1 at the moment, fantastic players...

  • @seaweedbrain i disagree. Verwijlen had to score touches by putting complex actions together, and when it came down to it, he wasn't able to keep focus, any mistake he made would result in a touch for the Italian. Pizzo kept control for the majority of the bout. I think the fencer who was in control won that final.

  • @Artystful Go for it! :)

  • A battle of defense.

  • can't believe Pizzo won, Verwijlen had him way outmatched

  • Is that Victor Putyatin, the coach of Pizzo
