The FCC will soon be taking applications for new community radio stations nationwide. Will there be room for a new community radio station in your city? It depends on FCC rules, which are being decided now. On March 19, 2012, the FCC asked the public to comment on proposed rules that will determine where new low power FM (LPFM) community radio stations can be located. Currently, new LPFM stations must be three clicks on the dial away from neighboring stations, but with a special waiver, they could be only two clicks away -- on the "second adjacent frequency." In many cities, these "second adjacent frequency waivers" could double or triple the number of opportunities for community radio. This video from the Prometheus Radio Project explains the current rules, the outlook for the future, and how to send a quick comment to the FCC. Check it out, and then take action at http://www.prometheusradio.org/take_a...

We in Delaware want to have call in talk show, we want to have our prison population be able to communicate with their families an friends. We want to discuss black history, and current events. Provide our listeners with information specifically geared to our citizen. We have a lot of crime in the city, we want a Citizen Review Board, but we need a radio station to communicate all these issues with our community. Coalition of Community Organizations will join you in contacting the FCC in May.

We need a low power FM Station in Wilm. Del. We have a clear channel station that doesnt address local issues, most is piped in from outside the City. The other station is a republican owned station but one voice all other information is totally right wing. We need a voice for the people who have been disenfranchised, as we are unable to communicate issues and information extremely necessary in our community. I have delivered information to Prometheus and havent any idea where we stand now.
