  • Truly an awesome performance...They did a reunion Friends and Love Concert a few years ago and it sounded just as great and fresh nearly 40 years later...All the shows were SOLD OUT just about as soon as the tickets were available...I'm hoping that there will be a video of the reunion concert available sometime too.

  • I don't believe they ever made a CD of this album...This concert was shown on PBS numerous times in Rochester, and it's a real treasure... I was lucky enough to go to the reunion concert a few years back, it was excellent.

  • FRIENDS AND LOVE CONCERT - May 9, 1970

A gathering of musicians from a variety of backgrounds, each one of whom contributed to the whole to make this concert remarkable. Hometown Rochester musicians included Gap Mangione, GERRY NIEWOOD, Steve Gadd, TONY LEVIN, Chris Vadala, MARVIN STAMM, Al Porcino, STANLEY WATSON, Ned Corman, Larry Covelli, Bill Reichenbach, Vincent Di Martino, Robert Becker and the Rochester Philharmonic.

The operative word is some, although he was definitely balding even then. Geez, even Phil Collins had hair in 1970.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this! Love seeing it; I never knew a video of the concert existed, even though I'm from Bflo & have been a fan since '70. Had to buy the album twice - 1st one wore out in 8 months, after I took it to college & other students went nuts for it. It was in the midwest & they'd hadn't heard of Mangione yet. Interpretive/modern dance friends were the worst, using it for every warm-up or practice session they could!

  • Have been looking for this for years !!!!!! Thanks for posting

  • WWOWO im impressed by this !!!!

  • That's Tony Levin on bass, way back on a stage riser. Yes, THE Tony Levin, when he still had some hair!

  • man thank you very very much for uploading these!!!!!!

  • I saw this concert over 40 years ago, at Kleinhans, In Buffalo NY. It was a truly amazing performance. There were so many standing ovations that Chuck and company played the entire concert over again. It was an unforgetable evening. Thanks for the memories.
