I dont think race matters at all when it comes to music..Im Black/White/and Mexican and I have never visited the islands Sadly..But I do know good music..and this is IT!!!..<3 much love to everyone outhere who knows beautiful music when you hear it...ohh yeah and 17 people are deaf..lol

Haole means "no breath of life." That is the literal translation. Ancient Hawaiians used to exchange "Ha" or the breath of life. When the foreigners came to the island, they shook hands instead of touching foreheads and exchanging breaths. Therefore, the ancient Hawaiians thought they had no "ha." Hence, the term "haole" was born. :)
Source: I'm a haole that was born on the islands, but raised elsewhere. I now live back on the islands and my father is a huge Hawaiian history buff!
