Thunderstorm over Portland, OR - May 24, 2008

On the evening of Saturday, May 24, 2008, the city of Portland experienced a phenomenal thunderstorm that not only dumped an inch of rain in an hour, but also boasted numerous cloud-to-ground lightning strikes. I'm sure this will be a night many Portland-Vancouver residents will remember for quite a while, especially considering how uncommon such storms are in our neck of the woods.

The footage compiled in this clip was taken under the center of the storm in North Portland from 9-10pm that evening.

That's totally one of those storms that you always see in the movies or on TV where a couple has a very poignant argument...

Yeah I remember May 24th I was watching that storm from my house here in Vancouver. I also remember the dates to all the other storms we had in 2008: May 24th, July 2nd, July3rd, August 17th and August 18th, oh and lets ot forget Jan 10, the day of the tornado.

Oh so 2 things, I notice this alot, from 2:05 to 3:00, every time a strike comes the some of the streetlights go out for a second, and the other thing, what with the strikes at 1:50 and 2:35? They appear to be right in front of you.
