Mako sharks like all sharks have special skin that makes it hard for bacteria to attach and grow on them.

  • Oh man, that's painful to read. I absolutely love Mako sharks, they're #2 on my list of animals just behind the Tyrannosaurus.

  • Mako sharks are even more scary-looking to me than Great Whites.

its for both ;-) , you know it is rare in nature that a particular adaptation serves one and only one purpose: typically , it's a cluster of minor advantages that get it selected evantually. in the case of shark skin , aerodynamism , anti-parasite(not just bernacles!) , extra-protection , stealthyness(swimming without causing to much water disruption) , and more...

  • very interesting surface but not to stay clean. aerodynamically

  • @JETZcorp yeah, it's a pitty there isn't more footage of makos... I'd love to see a whole documentary on them!

  • @ImAussieMate barnicle resistant.

  • the ramorahs clean the sharks skin.

  • no you haven't. you dolt.

  • lol... ok then you know what i saw... wanabe know it all,

  • The hell you have. They don't grow on fast-swimming animals to begin with, nor on sharks of any species.

  • what dumb shit i have seen barnicles on a mako before
