@oliveroma I pay attention to their movements, it's the same wasp species as in the house - you can tell by how it flew in the house, and compare it to the flight characteristics and behaviour in the skies and in clusters and swarms.

@supermushmouse Have you any video footage of these black wasps and if so, how can you be sure that this insect did infact come from the cluster?

Best time of the year to control wasps is in June after queen has established her colony & while the colony is still small, however nests are small & also harder to find.Best time of day to control wasp nests is at night, when they are less active.Temperatures below 50° F, wasps have difficulty flying. Freezing temperatures will kill the colony. I wonder if any of this applies to the wasps in Toronto?

@oliveroma The ones here are very active 24/7 and take to the skies at night - they don't seem affected by temperature changes or much else.
