Launch clip of 800lbf thrust hybrid rocket launched by Purdue University on 06-28-2009. The rocket achieved a maximum altitude of around 6100ft, speeds of Mach .6, and a takeoff acceleration of ~6Gs. Video was taken at 60fps, 720p via a camera module mounted in the nosecone payload bay. Worthwhile video ends near apogee, where the rocket's recovery system deployed parachutes.

  • mach 6 ? and 6100FT altitude at 800lbf, that pretty bad,

it seems more like a 29mm or 38mm mmt, that doesn't exceed 600km/h

800lbf motors are 5'' and larger,

if you hit at mach 6, you will be working for NASA right now,

  • @arttef

That's Mach .6, or 6/10ths of Mach. But your reasoning for us working for NASA as a result of that is still sound.

  • That's the clearest video taken from a rocket mounted video camera I've seen...what camera/unit was used?

  • @GenevaSuspension

The camera used was an Aiptek High-Speed (60fps) 720p resolution camera, mounted on a custom nosecone structure.
