A bird landed in front of camera on morning of first day of 2007 San Jose Grand Prix. We were still in process of adjusting all three amateur television (ATV) transmissions, but when this bird landed, we inserted a VHS cassette and pressed the record button. Also demonstrated use of VHS to document events. You cannot do this with a DVD recorder. One, initial reception was too noisy. Two, by the time DVD initializes, the bird would fly away. Three, no guarentee DVD will play on other players.
W6SJC-1 camera on top of Crowne Plaza hotel viewing Almaden Blvd foot bridge during 2007 San Jose Grand Prix race (third year). Video was taped using a TV set with built-in VCR to record the transmission on 433.25 MHz or cable channel 59. Command Post consisting of SJ police, fire, SAR, EMS, and RACES wanted to view footbridges to be able observe crowd congestion which was a problem during the first SJ Grand Prix.
