Never out of the first 3 in 9 starts, this win was significant in that he beat a below par Arazi and Rodrigo De Triano. His highest RPR was 123 when he finished second in the Moulin to All At Sea and Lahib in the QEII.

  • One of Lester Piggott's worse tactical rides. The tactics were similar to those of his Breeders' Cup win on Royal Academy in 1990, but on this occasion he was beaten by specialist milers. Peter Chapple-Hyam's decision to campaign him over 1 1/4 miles later in the season paid dividends, when he won a number of group 1 races but failed in the Breeders' Cup.

  • @flimper1

    curlew flyer

  • @flimper1 thanks very much.

  • a soft surface.

  • Arazi had excuses in all his 3yo defeats. 105310 were his 3yo form figures.

both the wins were over a mile on soft ground and he was very impressive both times. 0 and 3 were over 10 furlongs (too far) although he ran well in the derby.

and the 5 and 0 were on firm ground over a mile. its reasonable to say he would prefer that kind of surface after having bone chips removed in his knees.

  • julian wilson to posh ( for one off)
