QANTAS A380 Emergency LHR

A QANTAS Airbus A380 becomes involved in an emergency situation when a problem with the front landing gear is discovered.

The plane aborts its first landing attempt, performs a go-around and then lands safely on runway 27L at Heathrow Airport. Once on the ground the huge plane is unable to vacate the runway due to loss of steering - however she is eventually towed to Terminal 4 where the problem is rectified.

She later takes off for her 23 hour return trip to Sydney, Australia.

In a statement to The Australian QANTAS confirmed that the aircraft did a go around at 1900 feet and the Captain requested priority clearance as a precaution following a cockpit steering system fault message.

The problem was resolved on the ground within 80 minutes. QANTAS also made it clear that there was no risk to safety and all actions where precautionary.

Yet another Safter issue with these A380. 4 November 2011 engine failure makes emergency landing in Dubai. Think only about 9 of these planes flying dread the day one might crash, rushed into production. Give me a 747-800 instead, shame Qantas I remember when your logo was "The all Boeing Airline"

seeing as people have no understanding in aviation here, saying stuff like its unsafe and faults appearing so soon. Airbus has gone from 20% market share to over 52% fact. The airlines have spoken and these "unsafe terrible european" aircraft and winning more and more order compared to Boeing. Dont get me wrong i love boeing especially the 777 but its idiot supporters that have no ground to stand on and just say "if its not boeing im not going" just really pisses me off.

On october 28th I will take this London-Sydney flight aboard one of these baby's. My first time ever onboard an A380. Cant wait.
