This new spot was created to address the recent upswing in domestic violence in Memphis. This was the first spot ever in the campaign shot from the vantage point of the perpetrator and that is making a powerful impact.Recent communication from Operation Safe Community and the Memphis Police Department indicates that they are getting calls everyday from domestic violence victims who now want to speak out as a direct result of the impact of the Chill, Don't Kill spot.

  • I was the cameraman and editor of these spots-which are in fact designed to look amateurish! The voice is Skip Pitts, the guitarist of "Shaft" fame. The group who produced these spots is diverse and committed to helping Memphians...and that ain't easy.

  • It's amazing that this commercial even had to be made.

  • It makes me really depressed that we have to have tv commercials to remind people not to kill each other.

  • @memphisbluecrush why does he sound like hes tryin to sound like a bootleg member of cash money?

  • I saw this ad a bit ago on t.v. And yes it is sad that we have to have ads like this to try to stop murders. I don't know how to explain it without offending anyone but I understand why it was made the way it was.

  • There are so many things wrong with this I don't know where to begin!!!!!!!! It's almost as bad as a Saturday Night Live skit...Pretty sad when you have to dumb down to "gangsta" level and create a rap video about holding back from killing someone. Call yo mamma?? C'mon. Are the people who are suppose to see this the actual "killers"??

  • If so, I'm guessing they will be laughing their asses off and getting ready to do exactly what they see in this "commercial" just to fuel the fire. Good job guys!! The claim to #1 is just around the corner......Congrats

  • WTG Slim! I bet they made you repeat the same scene about a thousand times.

Ya, I was in a video once too. Never again.

  • Whew I'd have a hard time allowing my child to play the part of the toddler who's seemingly threatened with violence here, and I certainly respect whoever agreed to do so.

This is a powerful and important message. Thanks for creating this.

    MPD is badass.

  • well maybe if you would put effort into making your anti-crime campaign ads and not emphasize racial stereotypes, people might take you more seriously.
