  • If the base station device requires a plug-in transformer (as described), the unit is not truly wireless. Lack of security also limits the usefulness of such devices in a commercial or industrial environment. Instead, there are inexpensive intercoms on the market (Chamberlain, etc) which are truly wireless and offer reasonable security as well. Limited range (±1000-ft) is their greatest Achilles' heel.

  • The greatest cost of installing an intercom system is the wire between stations. The fact that there is a wire between the wall and the base station is of little consequence to most people. The 900MHz WireFree Wireless intercom you referred to does work well for shorter range applications and their portability is great. The voice clarity is not as good though. If you need long range though, MURS is definitely the answer.

  • If I wanted to use this for picking up the sound of a band playing in one room and sending that sound to a speaker in another room approx 100 feet away, would this be possible and if so exactly what parts would I need ? Thanks.
