when I see roseanne dad he seems to be a good guy to hang with but Roseanne says her dad was mean and beats her and her sister when they were younger????? I don't see that in the charactor

My mother-in-law absolutely HATED me....until I divorced her daughter. After I moved 1,500 miles away she spent her time apologizing about how nasty and mean she'd been for years and YEARS and asking me to come "home". Seems like my "X" wife's 12 year younger lover was a drug addict and ....deadbeat. SUDDENLY, to my mother-in-law, the kind and nice guy with the MONEY (ME) looked pretty damned good!
It was like being in heaven when I yelled into the phone, "GO FUCK YOURSELF...BITCH!!"
