I decided to test my max bench, deadlift, and squat. 235 lb. felt and looked easy, and I thought I had more. But, not having been training for strength, I had trouble bringing to bear the strength that I have, and failed with 245 lb. I feel like I could get that if I trained for a 1 RM for a little while, but who knows.

I welcome comments about form. I was surprised by how little I'm bending my knees at the start. And, there's some windmilling at the end.

  • BTw forgot to say awesome job keep it up , any do you post on tnation forums by any chance?

  • I agree that I need to get lower. Blenderate and I are just finishing the 5/3/1 program, and I think my deadlift has probably gone up. I pulled 200 lb x 8 for the last max-rep set. I have been trying to start lower for the first rep, but I think I end up moving my hips higher and higher as I progress through the set...

  • Maybe slightly lower hips even more to get more legs into the movements and keep the bar close to your legs as possible.

  • Congrats on the PR! With some DL-specific training, your max will definitely climb above 250 by the next time you test.

  • Awesome job, once again. :)

You should have Matt or Sioux-z critique your form, but from what I see, you need to focus on leaning back to leverage your bodyweight and pushing your heels through the floor.

Also, maybe try sumo style sometime. You might find it easier.

  • nice job
