This is my first hand-drawn cel-animation ever to be made by myself! Cel-animation is known as one of the oldest and traditional animating method in the history! For example, the first cartoon made by Walt Disney was using cel-animation! I drew my character in this short cartoon is in a simple Anime or Manga style (a Japanese animation and comic character's style). Before I study professional animation course in which I learn pose-to-pose and inbetween animating method, I used an animation method called 'straight-ahead', meaning every drawing is rendered in the order in which it will be shot.

Version 1 - I used Window Movie maker to make this animation and the background music is "Initial D" 2nd stage ending credit!

Please feel free to comment!

I've upload my character design in this animation on deviantART, please have a look on the following link: http://yanamationpictures.deviantart.com/art/Me-in-Manga-or-Anime-style-11466...
And the first background in this animation could also be found on deviantART which was pencil drawn before being colourised! Please see this following link: http://yanamationpictures.deviantart.com/art/A-rural-British-countryside-1328...

Hope u enjoy! ^_^

  • THIS IS GREAT!

  • @Adsapaps Thx!! ^_^

  • Hi James, I like your version 1 better. It's smooth. The music is nice and gentle which blends in with the animation very well. I like the character's smiles and blinking eyes. His exhausted expression is quite funny!

Well done for the first try!

I think you have the talent, but no doubt you need to work hard, to be successful in the future.

    Good luck!!

  • Thx! ^_^ I'm very imprezzed! Yus, This is my 1st try! Actually I'm not a very gd Anime / Manga artist, so maybe my character is either simple or not really looks like other common Manga characters, esp the eyes and hair.

I'm quite passionate about stop-frame / clay animation, but I need to learn and try other animating method, so I did this by myself, which I mean "self-learning". So I could study animation school and get a job in the future easily!

  • I respect how difficult it is to do this. People are already starting to miss this traditional form.

The more 'human' any work is, the more moving / inspired the result will be.
