So it seems like a few people are coming by checking these videos out to get a good idea as to what rohan is like and i just wanted to warn people what to truly expect when going into this game so here are 6 reasons why you should avoid this game...

TL;DR version

1. The game is expensive, to stay competitive it will cost you at least 20$+ a month, not to mention the 100s of dollars to make decent gear. All new content costs money.

2. Class balance is terrible

3. Botting and cheating runs rampant and even if caught by gms its usually only a 1 day ban

4. Game population is dead

5. Its not going to get fixed, ever

6. Its a grind fest (you wont really notice till after level 50)


Giant wall of text version


1.) This game is free to play, but ridiculously expensive to actually enjoy. One small example is forging weapons/armor. Let say you want to make a really good glove. Assuming you have all the parts needed (which can take weeks of farming with this games low drop rate, or you can buy the parts with real money) you will need at least 2 rare preservation stones (which cost about 6$ each) 1 unique preservation stone (which costs 8$ each) and if you want to go all out an armor enchanting preservation stone (about 11$) Assuming that all your forges work (and with the high fail rate in this game, rares are about 50% chance for success, uniques are 30% and enchantments are about 20% even on special forging "events") It will have cost you about 30$ just for a single piece of armor. Now you have to do it again for your pants, shoes, helmet, and chest plate and weapon. If you have the best luck in the world you will have only spent 150$-ish just for part of your gear. With the high fail rate, a more realistic number for the above is 40-50$ a part, but i have seen people waste 100$+ on a single part of armor before. Now you can make armor without a preservation stone, but during your forge if it fails you loose everything which isnt so bad on lower levels, but in the high end when things get competitive and when drop rates suck so bad you don't want to forge without pres stones. Now after all that you have to go make your rings and go farm/buy earrings and glasses. Also, you need to buy level 7 stones,a costume and +all stat talisman monthly which can come up to about 18-50$ a month to stay competitive. I haven't even touched on pets, weapon enhancements, exp scrolls, mounts, level 6/7 skill stones or character enhance scrolls at all add on quite a bit to the price of this game. Every time new content is added to this game, whether it be a dungeon or new feature, it costs more money

2.) class balance is really off. The prime example here are templars. A well geared templar at end game can hit for about 5,000 damage with their auto attack, and hit about 3 times a second. The average non tank type character has about 12,000 hp. So if you go toe to toe with a templar, you loose in under a second. Templars also get very high defense and can carry around a shield, which combine with the right pet means that 30% of all attacks on them do 0 damage. They also get a buff called reflection which makes them completely imune to any stun, root, or and other kind of debuff. They also have 3 different kinds of heals, one of which heals them for about 75% of their health and is on a 6 second cool down with a 1 second cast time. They can also become true tanks when they party up with the defender class (the tank of rohan) which has a buff that shares hp with its target, so the templar can have upwards of 100,000 hp. No other class comes remotely close to that.

3.) Botting and cheating are 99% ok with gms. YNKs policy is life time ban, but botters are usually let off the hook in about a days time

4.) The game is turning into abandonware. Even YNK knows the game is failing and has put their dev team onto other games. The population is nearly dead last time i was there. The game started off with 250,000+ players. Last time i was on my server there were 300-ish active players. There has been a server merge, so things a little bit more busy now, but not for long i imagine.

5.) Things wont change at all either. It took them a whole year to fix a bug where archers couldn't equip arrows. A whole year for something that basic, how long do you suppose it will take them to fix the rest of the game? Its not happening.

6.) Its a grind-fest. post mid 70s quests yield about 6-12% of the exp for your level. Grinding in a good group at a good spot gives you about 5% exp an hour (without exp scrolls and the such). So it takes shit loads of time to level. There was one really good spot when the game first came out called arena where people could level really fast thanks to a few repeat quests near it, but YNK deleted it so people wouldn't level as fast without scrolls.
