It was all about religion...and it WAS about Country. Charlie's father was the rightful heir but was past over when his time came because he wasn't the right religion, they didn't want one of those Papists running the country! That's why there was an uprising, that and greed!

@BillDFC You were so right , & I stand corrected , as he did represent something more , back then ... I quess, it , was just my sadness , that so many lost their lives for him...

@ScottishShorts Yes , you are right, given the context you gave :)) Freedom is something we all strive , to give .... All the Best to you & yours :)))

@yukonnahanni True. He was born in Rome of a Polish mother and he died a drunk in Rome. He spent less than a year of his life in Scotland.
I think he represented something more though....The old faith and the Stuart line which still meant something back then.....He was no Bruce or Wallace though!

glenfinnans an awesome place
Question???
Why today , would anyone fight for Charlie??? The man was not brought up in Scotland , nor in England .. His Loyalities , did not belong , for the comman Scot !! It is time, if you all want to be who you, are , to just be who, you are !! Hard to imagine Loyalties , to anything other than Country !!!

It has to do with being a nation to an extent. It has to do with genocide.. It is a lot easier to say be who you want to be than to be who you want to be and sometimes a group must take arms to keep their freedom and their loives.
