RAF Typhoon roars into new role protecting the UK skies

The Royal Air Force's Eurofighter Typhoon has today taken over the UK's Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) element of the UK air defence and is now at readiness to take off within minutes - without pre-warning to protect the skies over the UK. RAF Coningsby saw the crew from No 3 (Fighter) Squadron scrambled as if responding to a call from the government that there was an aircraft acting suspiciously in UK airspace. Squadron Leader Paul Smith was at the controls and was seen running to his aircraft as the klaxon alert sounded.

@YouGotTeaBagged Hard to see with the bad quality video but I'm pretty sure that is not Jim Walls.

Incidently, the Top Gear footage was cut to make it look much closer. I was at Coningsby the day it was filmed and on all of the three runs they did the Veyron got beat by a long way.
