A minor blues with various stylings played on an Edwards '56 Les Paul copy with lollar minis. Different combinations of pickups and overdrive are used including a Lovepedal Eternity and Area 51 wah. The amp is a Ceriatone 36 (EL84)

  • yeah, it is absolutely possible to have minihumbuckers on an sg, but its difficult to instal. there's enough space under the pickguard, but you'd have to make/buy a pickguard made for p90's, and you need a special way to hang the minihumbuckers under the pickguard (like you do with real humbuckers), because normally, they're bolted directly in the body.

  • you don't need a special way to do that. Lollar will make the pickup with nuts soldered to the wings so you can screw the pickup to the pickguard.

  • OMG you play awesome!!!!!!

  • I really like the clean sounds, the in-between option in particular, sounds very appealing .

  • I have a Gibson Historic '56 Les Paul. Although when you're playing the noise disappears it's still annoying and I've been tempted to install mini HBs . The one thing that always used to stop me was the memory of a Les Paul Deluxe I used to have. It was a great axe but A/Bd with my '56 it always sounded thinner without a lot of bottom end.

Now that these Lollar mini HBs have been brought to my attention I think I'll be buying a pair when I'm in a position to do so. They sound good.

  • Great vid! Thanks! May I ask if you know if the Lollar minihumbucker is splittable?

  • Your Edwards sounds great. I put Lollar p90s in my Les Paul Deluxe because I hated the mini-humbuckers. But these sound a lot better than the Gibson ones.

  • Ha! I have one too! I think my is a 72'? Not absolutely sure though? It's either a 70' - 71' - 72'?

The info I found online is a bit confusing - I didn't quite get what they were taking about w/ the serial numbers?

    my looks like this: 487

    120101

    MADE IN USA

(not sure if Gibson stamped the three digit

number above the serial # or if it's apart of the serial # or what? It's look different than the rest of the #'s????)

  • beautiful tone...thanks much...

  • oh haha i didtn't read the description, it looks close enough so i just assumed cause i have one and they look quite close

  • Dude, it says under 'more info' that it's an Edwards model. If you've never hear dof them, they make copies of Gibsons guitars but cheaper, also less quality, but good enough for a sound liek this. Also this guitar originally came with P90s, but he replced them, so its not a deluxe, no offense though

  • couldn't you just drill holes into the pickguard?
