My own interpretation of the pale blue dot meme honoring Carl Sagan that was going around for a while.

"It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known." -Carl Sagan

enjoy

-Oh and as for the name of the song, i dont know the name. I found it on my hard drive and the file said classical 2 which doesn't tell me jack. I think it was one of those samples that come with who knows what CD I've ripped over the years.

If i ever find out or anyone knows please tell me so I can post.

  • I detect the speech has been recorded in much less than 44.1khz sample rate.. Why?

  • @2stepsteve Not sure the recording was given to me a while back for the pale blue dot audio book.

  • We are infinitely small. Our planet is not the center of the universe. From 4 billion miles away we appear to be a pale blue dot. And from further still...not even that.

However, we ARE in a privileged position. Because we are alive. Because we can make choices. We have the power to change things around us and within us.

  • I feel hope. I see a lot of people who never watched or payed atention to Carl Sagan, now, thanks to internet, are dicovering him.

Read his books, you'll love them. He was an intelligent man and a bright scientist. He also was the one to share his knowledge in plain words with ordinary people like us -not many scientists liked it. He made us love science and care about the world.

  • Mmm-billions and billions of starrzz in this univerrse.

  • That was amazing. Happy birthday, Carl. We miss you.

  • Carl Sagan was a poet

  • I've loved space ever since I was a young lad. I've only just come across this poignant message and I think I have a new found respect and admiration for everything. The vastness of space and our miniscule presence in it is mind blowing when put in perspective.

  • @2plus2is9 Just like Yakko said in his Universe Song from Animaniacs.

  • I loved Sagan and I don't say this only because he has deceased but because i truly believe so that he was an artist of life, he was a poet and a humble saint.

''The pale blue dot'' by Carl is the most heart touching short piece of literature masterpiece the world will ever get.

  • If i could bring back ANYONE to life, it would be sagan. ANYONE.

  • The song is by Rob Dougan its called "instrumental" off of his furious angels cd

  • beautifully stated ;]

  • @PoFFizdaMan You're in good company with Einstein & Sagan.

"The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend personal God and avoid dogma and theology. Covering both the natural and the spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things natural and spiritual as a meaningful unity." -- Albert Einstein
