This week our own George Wallace takes us on a literary tour of Northport, Long Island, New York, in celebration the 50th Anniversary of the publication of Jack Kerouac's novel "On the Road". George shares his intimate knowledge of Northport and Jack's association with it in this contemporary on location video.
We made this video to participate in a larger celebration in France, "Memory Babe, A Tribute of Jack Kerouac". Which, according to its organizers, "...on the 23 of September 2007, an artistic installation will celebrate in Paris, France, the 50th year of publication of On the Road, the mythical book by Jack Kerouac.
During the afternoon and all night long, we will organize an artistic installation including films, music, photography, films, lectures, text and..." They invited all to "make a video on the road, where you're, everywhere in the world, upload it on youtube (or any other site) and send us the address of your video. This video will be included in Jack's channel (http://www.youtube.com/tribute2kerouac) and projected during the installation.
Actually, Jack and I first met in 1957 when Jack lived on Earl Ave and he gave me an autographed copy of On The Road as a thank you for helping his mom grocery shopping..Jack didnt drive.

I came across this video while researching Kerouac info. Great & very informative video. It's awesome to see that Jack's life continues in the interests and stories of others in Northport.
