Thank god we have churches and volunteer groups willing to put together an actual meal with some relative nutritional value.

Japan is also capitalism and the islands blighted by earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanoes, yet they do achieve self sufficiency for agricultural produce. If anyone think socialism not work then maybe consider Bushido?

@alienkishorekumar China is far from utopia or perfect, in fact still many rural people going hungry, but we are talking about a nation blighted with large proportion of deserts (Gobi desert e.g) and mountains, frigid highlands, and still manages to not have this sort of harge scale hunger. However USA produces tonnes of crops enough to be poured into sea or used as economic weapon against third world countries. The US hunger is utterly absurd, and insulting to the title of 'Superpower' .

U call this democracy? superpower? democracy my ass! Hunting for food that's so much like Africa. The economy will only get worse and more people using food stamps, however do bear in mind that most of the food there are things cannot be legally sold at supermarkets (expiry date or something) but even these will run dry in future, as supermarkets will try cut cost and reduce waste even further. Also wait till u see '21th century Illiterate' in this superpower.
