My goal is to promote alternative energy innovation of all types. I have focused on creating conceptual drawings and simulations that have potential for producing power at lower wind speeds. I also enjoy learning new CAD skills as I attempt to bring my wild ideas to life.

This unorthodox design uses servos to move the control surfaces. A common Arduino microcontroller would determine when the servos move, how fast and how much deflection is needed. The mechanical design of the control surfaces minimizes the force on the servos and balances the structural stress on the struts.

You might notice a slight difference in timing when comparing the movement of the front and back struts. The linkage is adjusted to prevent both systems from reaching the top dead center point at the same time. The Arduino can also control timing.

  • Note; All of my concepts are just first attempts to show potential for a low wind speed system. This also helps me to improve with Autodesk Inventor. I make this point in all of my videos but every once in a while I'll get some crazy comment and it's always clear that they didn't read the description or any comments but it makes me wonder if most people think I'm trying to sell my wild concepts. Ha! This is simply a public collaboration experiment pertaining to alternative energy.

  • Please feel free to post videos or ideas regarding alternative energy in the message section of any of my videos. Thanks!

  • Leverage type designs might also find a niche on a smaller scale. Examples; Small Farms, High Rise Buildings and etc.

  • The excerpt below explains the relationship between the standard wind turbine and wind speed. This is why I have attempted to design a low speed wind turbine along with the fact that many areas do not meet the average wind speed requirements.

  • “Wind speed can mean a large difference in available energy and in electricity produced, and therefore, a large difference in the cost of the electricity generated. Also, there is little energy to be harvested at very low wind speeds (6-mph winds contain less than one-eighth the energy of 12-mph winds).”

  • WORLD RECORD: BIGGEST WIND TURBINE

    Visit: windturbinecarriedbywheels.weebly.com

ZERO-NOISE from gears and generators since they're sealed underground.

SAVES THE BIRDS AND BATS since the turbines are slow-moving.

DOES NOT NEED TO OCCUPY A WIDER LANDSCAPE since the turbine can be very tall.

MAY BE LOWER-COST since it can use parts of junked trucks and others.

ELUDES HURRICANE FORCE since the blades automatically close.

HELPS THE WIND ENERGY COMPANIES since it is FREE FOR ALL.

  • Almost a dragonfly. It would be so much more fluid if it moved more in an arc, instead of back and forth.....I'm no engineer. pretty cool tho..
