Wonderboy was not originally a game of Sega. Wonderboy had the license by the company named Westone, and borrowed the license of Wonderboy by Hudson Soft and was put on the market with PC Engine as Adventure Island.

You got your history a little scrambled there.
Sega had the rights to the names and characters of the Monster World/Wonderboy games that Westone made but Westone only had the rights to the code. Westone also had a licensing arrangement with Hudson Soft who ported Westone games to non-Sega consoles.
