In this tutorial I will show you how to use free software available online to take videos from your digital camera, camcorder or phone and convert them into a format that can be imported into iMovie on a iPad 2 using a windows based computer. This simple procedure will allow you to sync the videos to your iPad using iTunes. This will then allow you to go into iMovie and your video will show up in your camera roll. I did this a few times already and so far it has worked with no problems.

  • Are there any programs like this that work on a mac?

  • @OriginalJayree - i always see people stating they have used HandBrake to do this on their mac but i cannot confirm.. also saw someone talking about one called VideoMonkey.. again I cannot confirm.. Good Luck..

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial! I was going nuts trying to get this done and your video was the only one that worked. You saved me many hours of frustration.

  • @Foamsworth - You are welcome.. thanks for watching.. please rate and subscribe if I helped yah :)

  • I used your U Tube Video to convert a video from my Panasonic Lumix Camera. I was able to get the video to show up and play correctly in the Ipad 2 VIDEO APP but it did not appear in the IMOVIE APP. Only videos that appeared there were one taken with the Ipad camera??? BOB

  • @joandonshaw - not sure if you missed a step or not.. did you shutdown your iPad and then restart? i too use a panasonic lumix camera.. 2 of them.. and i have used this to convert videos from each to work in iMovie.. give it another try with a small video to test.. good luck.
