Del Porter was born in Newburg Oregon in 1902. Here he sings A Hat For Hedda Hopper with Spike Jones and His City Slickers in 1946. Del had appeared on Broadway and in Films before meeting Spike when Spike was hired to play drums on one of Del's recording sessions. Spike suggested they form a band. They rehearsed at Del's house. The band was based on those of Freddy Snicklefrtiz Fisher and Milt Britt. Spike was a more ambitious man than Del and assumed control of the group.
