I used paintings by Boucher for most of the clips
from this opera but the portrait of the man himself
is the most fitting picture for this last aria that I
could think of.

Also, this is a rare case of Metastasio writing a text for comic aria.

Nah, Mondonville doesn't look nearly so full of himself ;)

But, the Mondonville portrait is by

Maurice Quentin de la Tour and I remember that I considered his self portrait for this video too.

Music from mid 18th century is always so extremly beautiful - and this wonderful aria is no exception! :)

By the way: the portrait is a pastel by the swedish artist Gustaf Lundberg. It is a portrait of his colleague Francois Boucher from 1741
