Simple process really, just basic wood machining. I use quarter sawn European Spruce for my back struts, nothing else.

Mark 'em out, cut them, rout to shape. Sand and mark the height, cut on the band saw and notch the back strips to receive them. Glue them on and there you have it!

  • EXCELLENT VID - do you fasten braces with TITEBOND?

  • What is the thinking behind the bracing on the back? Especially the slanted brace seen on yours and sobell instruments, does it have an effect on sound?

im only used to one back graft and four braces!

  • Looks very streamlined, though personally I use a small block plane for shaping the curve. Routers scare the willies out of me!

  • Thank you so much for posting your work.
