Made the trip so much more enjoyable didn't it? Sounds like you had some good times rolling through TX listening to the best of the best in Southern Rock/Blues. Keep on rocking to the "Allman Joys".

I agree the sound quality on this concert is closer than a studio version. The best part of the members of the "Allman Brothers" is their versatility. They played with so many individuals that were part of other bands. Including long jam sessions with blues and rock and roll legends that are still around. It came so easy and natural to them, they could pull it off with no sweat. Gotta love that kind of talent.

Best version I have ever heard. Duane is gone but not forgotten. Thank God he left us his music. I believe you can come to know someone through their music and Duane and this song hold a special place in my heart.

Was channel surfing not an hour ago and happened upon a 1983 jam session with Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan. They began the show with "Stormy Monday". As I am writing this comment I am listening to "Stormy Monday by the Allman Brothers live at Fillmore East in 1971" while King and Vaughan are jamming their heart and soul out to their audience on television. I have never seen anything like that. You don't want to miss this so I strongly suggest you look it up, what a genuine treat.

Little story for ya. Back around '71, my father worked as a propane truck driver/service man at Country Gas in Maple Shade, NJ. One weekend he was on call, and got a call from the answering service on a Saturday night at 3:00 am. He was pissed. He gets there and it's a bunch of southerners in a Winnebago. You can guess the rest....They left Philly bound for Atlantic City He said they were friendly, apologetic and big tippers. Dad's gone now, with Duane, I suppose.... Miss ya, man!!

Many have performed this classic, but, for me, this is the best and definitive version. Greg's vocals - superb; words can not properly describe Duane's guitar work, and the whole band is in a complete groove.
