Situational Presentations - When I first trained as a teacher, the key technique for teaching grammar and vocabulary was the situational presentation. But over subsequent years this technique rapidly fell from favour, derided as part of the generally criticisms of a Presentation -- Practice approach to teaching. Yet -- I admit to being quite shocked on checking with recently-trained teachers and finding out that the vast majority nowadays have little idea of what a sitpres is or how to do it effectively. In this talk I will recant some of my misspeaks and earlier crimes and suggest why the sitpres needs to be put back at the heart of initial training.

  • jim scrivener = god of situational presentations

  • The camera should show the screen being presented - maybe even for a little editing show the slide with presenter's voiceover.
