My 12month old Saltwater marine fish tank with two percula Clownfish, one Royal gramma, one Tiger Jawfish, one banngai Cardinal, pulsing xenia coral, mushroom corals, toadstool leather coral, polys, zoa's and Liver rock and Live sand, turbo snails, hermit crabs, cleaner shrimp, brittle star fish, anenome sexy shrimp, bumblebee shrimp...temp 27, SG 1.026, PH 8.2, NO2 low,N03/4 nil,KH 214,ca 420 ect...using one Hydor k1 behind Live rock slope and as you see a Nano Hydor in top left pointing down. Also, to keep water fresh and airated I have a airstone in sand. Water changes every seven to ten days of about 15%, adding a small amout of Tropic Marin Tripple KH/PH buffer.

  • Can anyone help me? I just got one of these fish tanks and the filter is blowing out hardly any bubbles but from the other videos i have seen on YouTube of the tank they seem to be blowing a lot more bubbles and bigger bubbles?

  • @HeratyIRN

Chances are your airstone is either blocked or you air pump is faulty or not air tight... 'Reef One' air pumps are useless and I would suggest upgrading it to a silent but more powerful pump.

    cheers kev

  • Hi 'bubs0000',

Again, I think as long as you understand the basics before you begin you will be fine. Due to Youtube being limiting on posting info I would suggest visiting UltimateReef forum and searching BiOrb Life 60 to see how its done and hear how others have done it with this tank. Just be patient as its a really rewarding hobby when done properly.

  • @kevkapawski Hey again, at your suggestion, I've been pouring over ultimatereef forums on how to set up my Biorb like this to some success. Seems everyone has done it one way or another to fit their needs. I just wanted to ask how you've managed to get the air-stone still working? Did you simply pour sand over the air-stone? It seems to work really well. And what have you done for water circulation and filtration?

  • Hi bubs0000, My setup is very different to how it was in this video and the airstone has been turned off...

I have the rockwork the same but have lots of corals and only three fish. I have upgraded my lighting and connected the tank to a sump in a cabinet. This allows me to place my heater, protien skimmer and any filter media ect in the sump and not in the main tank. The tank looks amazing now and I will pop a link on here when I upload the latest video of the tank.

feel free to ask 4 advice

  • stunning conversion dude, looks amazing, considering a marine conversion myself but being an amature im gonna stick with tropical for a while longer although i work in a fish and pond shop so have access to advice. would you advise an amature to make this conversion or would you agree to gain experience first?

  • Hi 'Chooby3000',

I think you have the right attitude to start a marine tank. I would suggest setting one up with water a heater, sand & Live Rock...I would then leave it for a few weeks to a month to cycle and mature. I would do some revision on the marine hobby so you know at least the basics. As long as you dont have any fish or corals until your tank is ready then you will do fine. visit UltimateReef forum and search Biorb Life 60 so my new thread and latest modification on my Biorb Life

see all

  • hi just wanna say i have seen your blog and you were my insperation to convert/upgrade my biorb 60. I have currently been running it for 2 months, live sand bed 7ish lbs of live rock, zoas, pussey coral, polyps and a toadstool. Tmc light furval edge filter. Did you find your royal gramma hid a lot to begin with, mine comes out for food and the runs back to its rocky cave.

  • How Mutch Did All That Cost ?

  • You know marine fishkeeping's going down the shit when they're being kept in a BiOrb.

  • is saltwater hard to maintain ive only had tropicals and still have might move to clowns

  • gorgeous!! would love to have a replica tank! you should get in with reef one and develop a proper reef tank option with them :)

i'm most definately not daring enough to drill into a tank like that haha

  • @kevkapawski thnx for the advice
