The Swell Season came to Madrid February 28th, 2010 for the last show of their Europe tour and ripped through a show full of old favorites and songs from their latest album (and a few surprises, thanks to the fact that it was also Marketa Irglova's birthday). The setting in the capital of Spain also introduced some Spanish influence into the concert, with Javier Mas playing guitar on several songs and a girl from the audience playing a pair of castanets gifted to Marketa on two others.
I was lucky enough to snag a spot leaning up against the side of the stage right next to Colm Mac Inomaire. Unfortunately though, that meant I didn't see much of Marketa, as she was blocked by Glen most of the time. Still, it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Hope you enjoy these videos, and sorry if they cut off at the end at strange points. My memory card kept filling up, so I had to delete other things.
