  • I've owned my magic jack for a little under a year. So far i have had no problems with it. My wife and i dont use the phone much to begin with but its great to have a cheap phone service as a land line. It saved us a lot of money.

  • Is the hat necessary ?

  • id give it 4 stars

  • I'm so glad to see a positive review! I put off buying this device because of so many negative reviews, but now that I own it, I have to say that it is great! It's reliable and the sound quality is awesome!

For those who have trouble, it must be one of 4 things... slow computer, malware on computer, poor internet connection, or not enough power from usb port. You should get 5 volts from your usb port. If not, you can use an AC powered usb hub, but NEVER use a non powered usb hub with this!

  • @sadmancho pros and cons to both. Some of the features that come free with magic jack are at an additional cost with ooma. Also, the initial cost of ooma is is like 10X that of Magic Jack. With ooma, you still have to pay $12 a year for taxes. It's $20 a year with magic Jack. But because of the much larger initial investment with ooma, it would take you like 35 years to break even. I dont use the phone much so Im satisfied with my magicjack thus far. Ive had it for 3 weeks.

  • The Ooma seems to be better.

  • Very informative, I just got my MJ today -- it was totally plug and play...I really like it.

  • It's good for portability, but it's not a good home phone replacement. Sometimes the software freezes. If this happens you have to unplug the device, wait a moment, and plug it back in again. I've had it for 2 years and it's a gamble as to whether my phone will work whenever I pick it up. It's cheap for sure, but you get what you pay for.

  • DANG I DON"T LIKE LEAVEING COMPUTER ON ALL THE TIME. so anytime i use it has t be left on

  • Magic Jack is a total fucking nightmare!
