This is the same understanding of the OT as those Jesus accused of not getting it. Is it that denying grace, the truth that saves men results in being unable to see it, as I do in the OT.

@SecHummer Well, looks like it is only something wrong with they way I am holding my mouth.

@SecHummer Just testing to see if I really cannot reply to a comment here but have to add a new comment?

Paul says in his letter to the Romans 13:9 following teaching Jesus in Matthew 22:39, Mark 12:31 & Luke 10:27 "The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,”and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” No reciprocity? Sorry I don't get it?

Jesus said it was the second of the two greatest commandments and he was not incorrect. A Rabbi or two would certainly agree.

Exeodus 20:13 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house...

The statement "love others as you love yourself" is a commandment on how to love. Saying 'treat others as you would want to be treated' is a general principal of reciprocity and involves much more than just love, but how to conduct ALL behavior... and this elementary aspect of morality isn't found in the OT.

"Love your neighbor as yourself" is just a command to love. The principle of reciprocity is much greater, it is to treat others as you want to be treated by them, not just in the area of love. It is a big part of how to determine what is 'good' and 'bad' behavior without having to be told by God. Another part of determining ethics without God, a major part, is called 'consequentialism.'

No- Jesus didn't give the idea of reciprocity when he mentioned the two commands. The two commands were specific to love God and your neighbor. The law of reciprocity is much more general and applies to more things than just love. It also shows you what is 'good' and 'bad' behavior, by a way of determining 'good' and 'bad.'

Chris- the golden rule is all about reciprocity. The OT verses you gave didn't mention reciprocity. What you gave were commands from God. That's a moral system called "divine command theory." God just tells you what to do specifically. Reciprocity is another way of ethics, which can be used separately or in conjunction with 'divine command theory.'

Chris- you are still being vague. Please be specific. Where did Moses imply or teach the golden rule?

No- Chris- Wikipedia says #13 is this:
"The resurrection of the dead"
Not the golden rule.
Please, cite your source.
