I am just wondering...because my parents never say I love you to me ever. Is it only romantic to say I love you to someone in Lao? If I say koi huk jao to my parents, are they gonna look at me like I'm crazy? lol

I would just say: Koj zoo nkauj. Not sure about Lao. I think it's: Jao ngam lai (correct me if I'm wrong vaolao).

both means I love you too.
khoy = I or me
jao = you
these 2 are not gender specific, and both boys and girls can use them.
