How is it possible that two, count 'em, two film adaptations of Beowulf decided it made more sense for Hrothgar to have screwed Grendel's mother and fathered Grendel? The poem states that Grendel and his mother were "a fatherless race." Ergo, Grendel had no father, and Grendel's mother could not be screwed by anyone!

Also, Hrothgar's daughter, Freawaru, is mentioned in the poem, but she doesn't actually appear.
