Good vid, i've found it hard to find any coverage of the event!! Unfortunately the interview bits do make it seem way too tame and chilled, but its shown me the crowds that i'd heard about but managed to avoid (or outrun :-) and i did object to "the obstacles were pretty easy," believe me running the race flat out and throwing yourself at all the challenges without stopping to take a breath made the race pretty intense and as challenging as it was meant to be! Still a cool wee vid though Dom!
the crowds did slow things down a lot, its probibly the only race where totally going for it at the start (or at least the first 2k is advisable. the obstacles you have to admit were not too challenging. i was expecting tyre lifting and keg throwing, climbing through rope in some trees, sliding down a water slide, running up some steps and crawling under a net may have been challenging for some but when your in a queue they are just breaks. beer keg rolling and sand bag carying next time!
Ha, beer keg rolling... in Edinburgh, that'd reduce the crowds, half the guys would be trying to run off with the keg!! I still say the point about the obstacles is that if you'r running flat out then reach one of those zones then they 'zap' your energy when you need it most, they did with me as i was trying to keep on top of 3other proper runners (i'm not).. as a result i was 2nd in my wave, 51.33 mins so same obstacles, different scenario different results!
