THE SMALLER AMIDA SUTRA
The Smaller Amida Sutra is called "the Sutra preached spontaneous and not in answer to a question". This is one of the reasons it is considered very important. Usually, sutras were delivered in answer to questions from various disciples, but this time, Shakyamuni wanted so much to transmit its message, that he preached it without being asked.
